How To Be Saved

If you were to die today, where would you spend eternity?

If you take just a few minutes of your time to read this simple message, it will show you from the Bible how you can be 100% sure that heaven is your home.

Everyone has sinned.

Romans 3:23
For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God;

We are all sinners before God.

Romans 3:10-12
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

You cannot make it to heaven on your own righteousness.

Isaiah 64:6
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

The very best that man can do is nothing but filthy rags before God!

God judges sin.

Revelation 20:12
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

One day you will stand before God and be judged for what you did in this life.

Romans 14:11-12
For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

Are you ready to stand before God, bow your knee, and give an account of your life in judgment?

The payment for sin is eternal death in the lake of fire.

Revelation 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

The lake of fire waits for all those that are not ready to stand in judgment before God. This is called the “second death”. The first death is when our body dies, but the second death is when our soul is punished for all eternity in the lake of fire.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The payment for sin is the second death in the lake of fire. But there is good news. God wants to give you the gift of eternal life through His only Son, Jesus Christ the Lord.

Jesus Christ died for our sins.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

God gave his only begotten Son to pay for our sins on the cross so that we can have the gift of eternal life. What a gift!

1 Peter 2:24
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Jesus Christ took our sins on His own body and died on the cross so we can be healed and not suffer the second death.

2 Corinthians 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Jesus Christ had no sin. His death allows us to be clothed in the righteousness of God. This is the only way we can be ready for judgment.

Romans 5:8-9
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

Eternal life is through the blood of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ rose from the dead.

1 Corinthians 15:4
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven.

John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

People think they can get to heaven through their church, baptism, speaking in tongues or the sacraments. The Bible says it is only through Jesus Christ.

Salvation is a free gift.

Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

You cannot earn eternal life. It is the gift of God.

Receiving the gift of eternal life.

Romans 10:9-10
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

All you have to do is ask, and God will give you the gift of eternal life.

Becoming a child of God.

John 1:12
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

When you receive the gift of eternal life, you are placed into the family of God.

The sinner’s prayer.

Do you believe the following?

  1. You are a sinner.
  2. The penalty for your sin is eternity in the lake of fire.
  3. Jesus Christ is Lord.
  4. Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead.
  5. Salvation is a free gift only through the shed blood of Jesus Christ and can never be earned by your own “goodness” or good deeds.

If so, bow your head and tell Jesus Christ that you believe these things and then ask Him for the free gift of eternal life. Once you have done this, God will write your name down in the book of life and heaven will become your home.

The promise of eternal life.

I John 2:25
And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

Once you are saved, you have God’s promise of eternal life and God does not break His promises.

I John 5:11-13
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

According to this verse, you can “know” that you have eternal life. In other words, you can be 100% sure that heaven is your home.

Angels rejoicing.

Luke 15:7
I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
Luke 15:10
Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

Just think, the moment you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, the angels rejoiced in heaven.

Faithfully serve God in a local Bible-believing church.

Ps 100:4
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

We look forward to seeing you in church this Sunday!
